Bringing classical ballet and creative movement to young dancers.
Laura Russo Owner/Instructor
Welcome To Petite Pointe Ballet and Movement! I’m Laura Russo, and dance has been my lifelong love.
I began my ballet training at the New Haven Ballet in CT at the age of six, studying under Artistic Director Noble Barker. At thirteen, I was invited to attend the prestigious Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory, where I trained intensively under American Ballet Theatre (ABT) former Prima Ballerina Eleanor D’Antuono. As a professional freelance artist, I fine tuned my artistry and technique through private coaching with ABT ballerina Christina Fagundes, performing with multiple ballet and modern dance companies throughout the east coast in repertoire spanning classical, neoclassical, contemporary ballet, and modern dance-including original roles created exclusively for me.
Through years of performing I began to fall in love with teaching, as I was intrigued with how I could communicate with and empower children through dance and performance art. I have had the privilege of teaching at Ballet Etudes, Eastern Connecticut Ballet, Starship Dance Theater, Joan Lynn Dance Company and the New Haven Ballet where I served as Ballet Mistress through many Nutcracker and spring performance seasons, as well as the principal of the upper division. That experience has led me here, to creating Petite Pointe.
At Petite Pointe Ballet and Movement, I bring that same experience, artistry, and professional training to our tiniest dancers. My classes are designed to enrich lives, nurture creativity, build confidence, and introduce the joy of movement to children in a safe, structured and encouraging environment. I can’t wait to see how your child grows and experiences the amazing world of dance.
